Welcome to East Luther Grand Valley Welcome!
A message from the Mayor
The Corporation of the Township of East Luther Grand Valley is the result of an amalgamation effective January 1, 1995 of the former Township of East Luther, a rural farming area and the former Village of Grand Valley, an urban area supported by four surrounding rural townships. The Township is truly nature's playground with the Luther Marsh and its wild life. The marsh covers 13,000 acres with a 3500 acre lake within it. The Grand River recently designated as a Heritage River flows from the northern to the southern boundary. It provides a picturesque setting as it meanders through the idyllic pastoral countryside and the lovely village in which our citizens feel relaxed and secure.

The Grand Valley B.I.A. is striving to enhance the urban centre within the municipality to encourage the expansion and retention of the retail and related business core. A group of people have volunteered their time on a committee called the Upper Grand Trailway to maintain, operate and further develop a multi use trail on the old CP rail line in an attempt to link it to the existing trails around the area and throughout the Luther Marsh.

To accommodate development, we have updated our Official Plan and Zoning By-law with lands designated for future job growth and residential development. A new Waste Water Treatment plant has been built to accommodate this development as mandated by the province through the “Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe”. We expect new residential development to start soon and we are looking for employment growth as well to bring jobs for area residents. We are open for business!
Even though we are small in size at present we have local soccer, baseball, hockey, figure skating, air cadets, guides, scouts and dance classes and several service clubs. A local school, an arena, medical centre, parks, library, fire hall and ambulance station round out our Municipal services.

The Municipality's north boundary is Highway #89 and the southernmost is County Road #109 (former Highway #9) divided centrally by County Road #25 (former Highway #25) thus providing easy access to major centers.

So browse our web site and pay us a visit in person to see for yourself what a wonderful community we have.
